3 hobbies girls find attractive

3 hobbies girls find attractive

Posted on 09. Mar, 2009 by Michael in Flirting Tips, Increase Your Confidence

Are you afraid that girls just don’t find you interesting? Think you need to increase you appeal? Well don’t fret because here are 3 hobbies that girls find attractive. By taking up just one of these hobbies, you’re bound to increase the number of girls that find you interesting.

1. Playing an instrument

Without a doubt one of the most attractive things you can learn is to play an instrument. But not any instrument will do. I don’t know many girls that will swoon over a man that plays the flute, do you? No you need a sexy instrument. Think guitar, sax or piano.

Now becoming competent at playing these instruments won’t come overnight. It will take a lot of practice in order to learn your first song. But the results will be well worth the effort you put into it. Not only will you be able to amuse yourself, you’ll have girls falling at your feet when you play the latest hit song.

2. Participate in sports

It’s a fact of nature. Girls typically love guys who excel at sports. It’s because girls like guys who are competitive and can win. It’s also because most guys who play sports have a fit body. Girls like fit bodies too.

So get out there and find a sport you like. It could be football, basketball or ultimate frisbee. Just make sure it’s a sport that you love to play. Because the more passionate you are about the sport, the better you will become at playing it. The better you become, the more you’ll stand out to the girls.

3. Taking a risk

Girls like guys who put it on the line. Now you don’t need to become the next Evel Knievel or Johnny Knoxville. That’s not the type of risk I’m talking about. I’m talking about taking up rock climbing, bmx biking or skydiving. These are activities that get your blood pumping. It also gets the girls hearts pumping too!

I recommend rock climbing. That’s the hobby I took up. I met so many girls because of it too. Girls would ask me what I liked to do. I would tell them that I rock climbed. Instantly they were interested and would ask me to take them sometime.

If it worked for me, there’s no reason it won’t work for you.

What do you think of these hobbies? Do you currently do them? If so, please share with us your thoughts.

This article was inspired by my buddy Jack over at eHarmony Advice. I liked it so much that I decided to adapt it for the Advice On Girls audience.

My friend plays the guitar for girls he likes over the phone. Sounds pathetic but it seems to get him dates.

I tried to learn to play guitar. Unfortunately, I wasn’t blessed with that talent.
    @ Doug
If playing Halo was considered an attractive hobby, I bet a lot of our weekends would be filled with dates!

Also, that’s a very good point you make. It’s very important that you do what you want to do.

You can’t just rely on your hobbies to attract girls. You’ve got to attract them with your personality and sense of humor. Try putting yourself out there some more and see what happens.

Guitars rank just below “Babies” and “Ridiculous amounts of cold hard cash” in the Babe Magnet category. I can’t put my finger on it, but girls just melt when you pick one up and start playing.

What about photography do you think girls like that???

  16. Kennedy

    04. May, 2009

    @ Rain
Absolutely! Keep in mind of what your ’subjects’ are, though. Most girls can appreciate rolling landscapes and tasteful portraits. But keep those picture of dead animals you took in the woods to yourself.

I’ll be honest with you: If there’s a hobby, there’s a girl that likes a guy with that hobby. Some just happen to be more common (playing guitar) than others (yo-yo master).

Hey. I’m athletic and smart and nice, but even if I think about myself well, I can’t work up the courage to go up and start a conversation with a girl. I play guitar and bass and I sing, but I’m not really sure how to use this to attract girls.
    Please help!!!

  23. Michael

    11. Jun, 2009

    @ Tom
It sounds like you just need to develop some courage my friend. There’s no need to be ashamed by that, all guys go through the same thing.
One way to impress a girl is with your guitar. Simply play and sing a song for a girl you like. In my day, the old-school Dave Matthews Band songs worked like a charm. Girls just loved them. Try that. You can even play a song for them over the phone - the girl will still swoon.
You just need to put yourself out there a bit. From the way you describe yourself, it sounds like it will payoff big time for you.
    Good luck man!

  24. Tom

    11. Jun, 2009

Okay, thanks, but how do I approach the girl to say I want to play a song? Do I have to know them well? Should it be at a party? Will it seem creepy if I text them and tell them to come to my house and listen or offer to come to theire house?
    Thanks So Much!!!

    12. Jun, 2009

    @ Tom
The best way for something like this to occur is naturally. To do that, try this: When you’re in a normal conversation with a girl, direct the conversation towards music. You can do that a number of ways. One way is to simply ask which bands she likes. Then tell her your favorite bands. Then somewhere during the conversation casually mention that you play the guitar. If she responds favorably, which she probably will, tell her you could give her some lessons sometime. If she takes you up on your offer, you can play her a song the next time you see her.
There are other ways to do what you want. Many other ways in fact. You just need to do a little creative thinking.
    Best of luck Tom!

I was just reading everyone’s comments and i thought i should contribute.
First of all if a guy called my on the phone and played the guitar or sang… i would pretty much die. even if it were someone i never really found attractive. but i think it would be awkward if it was just some guy who i had never had an actual conversation with. I feel like the stereotypical jock isn’t really the guy you want to be. Don’t get me wrong i like guys who play sports but the best combination is when you are sweet and you play a sport. I think alot of girls also like artistic hobbies as well. The only problem with this is that these hobbies are harder to showcase but they always make good conversation. If you don’t think you have any hobbies, then my suggestion is to just be spontaneous. Girls like unpredictability, when they are involved ofcourse. i hope that helped!

    btw i just turned 16

Sara has a point here - some girls might be put off by the guitar over the phone idea.
If I am at a party or something and see a guitar, I’ll ask whoever owns it if they mind that I played it for a minute. If your guitar playing sounds good at all someone will usually ask you to play a song. That’s probably the best way I’ve found to showcase your music skills without being too pushy about it.
At the very least you can just casually mention to her that you play guitar, and she says something like, “really?” you can come back with something like, “Yeah, I’ll have to play for you sometime.” And leave it at that.
As for other artistic hobbies, you can show those off a little bit, too. I have a painting hanging up in my apartment that I did, and I have some great photographs spread across the apartment that I’ve taken over the years.

    @ marx

As I mentioned before, there’s a girl that likes just about any type of hobby, and dancing is no exception. There are plenty of girls that like a guy that has the moves. That one actually gets better at snagging the girls as you get older. Don’t despair, you’ll find a girl that’s totally into what you have to offer.

  32. Kennedy

    06. Jul, 2009

    @ ahmed

Using the guitar example above, offer to play for her sometime. The piano is really romantic, and she’ll really appreciate you playing some sweet melodies for her.

i know this sounds pathetic, but iv nver kissed a girl.
eactly how do you? like tips on how to move yr tounge or lips. and do braces really cut the girls lip. i have braces and i dont want to make a fool of myself. im 15 and still no first kiss. plz help

  34. Michael

    07. Jul, 2009

    @ Doug
First off, you’re not pathetic. MTV, popular teen dramas and lying teenagers will all have you believe that they’ve already kissed girls. The truth is that about 50% of 15 year old boys have yet to get their first kiss. So relax because you’re not a freak of nature - you’re a typical 15 year old boy.
Second, don’t buy into the hype that your braces will cut a girl’s lip. That’s an urban myth. It just isn’t true. I myself had braces and I didn’t get my first kiss till I was 18.
Third, never go for “tongue” on your very first kiss. Your first kiss should only involve your lips. The best tip I can give is is to stay relaxed and close your eyes. Believe it or not, kissing is easier than you think. Just make sure you don’t tense-up your lips. Keep them loose and soft.
Cheer up Doug, you’ll get your first kiss before long!

Hey this is a great site!

I skate and am a musician and bedroom dj.

i’m indian 15 and never had a girlfriend or date.
I did take my chance at asking that special girl a few months back but i was too late.

I’m not a person who goes out a lot. But i would if i got handed the chance.

Noone in my School interests me. My mates are slowly turning into videogame addicts and giving up the one thing we have in common.(skateboarding)

Everythings sort of messed up but i’m all slowly turning it around.

    I’ll be sticking around

hey i was just curious, girls like fighters right??? cuz im a kickboxing/ karate fighter and even when i lose it seems like it gets hearts pumping, but what i was wondering is how to start a convo with a random girl about the fight, in the hopes of picking her up or even just gettting her number. Oh also i forgot what are some more good things for guys to talk about because i find myself much of the time saying random things to girls because im not sure how to keep the convo going

Girls like confident guys who are able to take care of themselves and protect their girlfriends. Most girls I don’t like “fighters.” By “fighters” I mean guys who love to get into fist fights or lose their temper at the drop of a hat.
You need to be careful about how you talk to girls about your fights at tournaments. You want to appear confident but you don’t want to come off as an arrogant ego-maniac.
For tips on what to talk about, visit our most popular article “How to start a conversation.” You can find it under the “popular” tab in the right hand sidebar.

Any guy who can play the guitar I’m into, and any guy who can hold a good conversation about good music has my heart right away.

The sport stuff? Never really been into that, I find it almost repulsive when a guy is obsessed over sports. When they play them just as a pastime, thats okay, I really don’t mind. It’s just those bone headed men who always talk about sports, I’d really prefer to stay away from them…

The extreme stuff? Yeah, I gotta admit, thats pretty attractive. My current boyfriend is actually at a month long camp for that stuff, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Rowing, Hiking, that kinda stuff.

But music is still my favorite in a guy, like seriously. If you can, PLAY AN INSTRUMENT. It really will help, I think. (My boyfriend plays piano and trumpet).

    what about CYCLING!?
Im a cyclist, do girls think the spandex are appealing? (im in shape so i dont have a belly hangin over)
i ride a velodrome specifcally, 45 degree bankings hitting 40mph. would girls think thats kinda cool?
i know that the big problem with this is when you tell someone you bike, the say “can you like do tricks and stuff?” i dont do tricks and stuff.

  42. Kennedy

    29. Jul, 2009

    @ nick

As mentioned above - if there’s a hobby, there’s a girl that finds someone with that hobby attractive. Your best bet may be looking out for the more athletic type of girl that can appreciate your love of cycling. And it could eventually lead you to helping her begin as a cyclist herself.
Otherwise, if you are trying to explain to a girl what exactly you do when you are cycling, try to avoid using cycling terms like what you used above. Simplify it for your audience for a greater chance of positive reception.

the thing about playing an instrument isnt always that its just “attractive”..haha im mean it is, dont get me wrong

for me if i guy can play an instrument, preferably piano or guitar, it gives us something to talk about..im a pianist so if the guy i like can play, we can discuss random things we do when we play..or music taste.

not all girls obsess over guys that are your sterotypical jock haha

be yourself, and be unique.. us girls arent always what we seem to appear..varsity volleyball, academic decathalon, marching band…and a huge fan of post-hardcore and alternative…must i say more? haha

So there’s all this talk about guitar…I’ve tried my hand at my friends guitar at our band practice but my fingers aren’t quite fast enough to be where I want them to be LOL, so it makes me wonder why drums have never been mentioned because that’s one of the accomplishments that I’m very proud of is my ability to drum really well. Never been in a school band though so I havnt attracted those types…do girls find rock drumming attractive? I play things like rush, breaking Benjamin, pearl jam and Avenged Sevenfold, so where do those rest as compared to guitar…btw, if you’ve got good rithym try out some drums at the local music place; it’s a great way to strengthen your legs and get ripped forearms like me-for any begginners I would suggest the song “In Bloom” by Nirvana, very easy…I hope girls find it attractive!

I’ve never really tried my hand at song writing at all, I’ve had a few ideas come to mind but never got around to it…that sounds like a killer way to do it, just go sit and do that in the mall’s food court-brilliant! If you’ve ever heard of hydrogen it’s a drum track editor that is free on Linux, sometimes I use that to get things down…thanks for the tip Tim!

You know, one thing I’ve been thinking that this site is missing is a membership system and a chat room, or just a general forums area where people can post topics to be open for discussion because I don’t really see that…just a few suggestions I thought that I thought would help the website, but this place is just awesome for people like me…keep up the good work!
