She’s not interested and borrowing money

Reader Question:
Dear Advice on Girls,

I know this girl who is 8 years older than me. I’m 23 and she’s 31. After hanging out with her for a while, we became good friends. At the time I didn’t have enough money to pay for all my school fees. She offered to help me pay for some of my fees, particularly the traveling fees. I accepted.

Anyway, after a while I started to fall for her. I also thought that she was falling for me.

Well, it turns out that one day I went to visit her and to my surprise she was really angry with me. She was saying things like she knows I want to date her but she’s not interested and that I should go out and meet other women.

I’m so down and disappointed. It was like the floor opened up and swallowed me. To make it worse, we’re also now neighbors. What should I do? Please help!

Our Answer:
Dear Idreezz,

First off, I make it a rule never to borrow money from a girl you’re interested in or might become interested in. Shoot, I think you should not borrow money, period, if you can help it.

That said, my advice is to cut bait and run. Don’t be angry back at her. Take the high road. Graciously accept that she’s not interested and maintain a friendly relationship with her.

I know it hurts man but sometimes you have to let these crushes go. There are plenty of other girls in your area that want to date you.

Also, if you can, I suggest you pay her back any money that you borrowed.

Best of luck!

Now I don’t know about his personal situation but I don’t think you should borrow money from a girl. I would not go that route.

I agree. You should always try to return what you borrow.
